LEANNE SMITH
Leanne Smith is a young guitarist who loves to sing and write songs. And amazing songs they are too. We thought we'd let Leanne introduce herself...
My name is Leanne Smith and I am a singer/songwriter from Macduff/Aberdeen and currently live in Perth.
Hi Leanne! So how did your musical career get started?
I had a fantastic experience studying music at Aberdeen college thanks to the brilliant lecturers and facilities. In January 2012, I played my first solo gig at Cafe Drummonds and since then have been gigging around Aberdeen. I am continuing my studies of music in Perth and have started to play in different places around Scotland.
And who would you say your main influences are?
My favourite artists are Ben Howard, Lucy Rose, Daughter, Bon Iver, City and Colour, Regina Spektor, Jose Gonzalez, Jo Mago, Esperi, Rachel Sermanni and John Butler.
That's a good list! Have you played any gigs that really stand out for you?
I have been fortunate enough to support my favourite female artist Lucy Rose in May at the Lemon Tree. I have also supported John Smith, Fossil Collective, Sandi Thom, The Darling Mundaring, Kate McGil, Cara Mitchell and various other artists and bands.
I have enjoyed playing numerous open mics and venues around Aberdeen and have also played at the AECC, HMV Aberdeen and George Square for Edinburgh's Festival this summer.
