QUIET AS A MOUSE

On the back of acclaimed free download track 'An Accident Waiting To Happen (Awoo Woo Woo)' Quiet as a Mouse released their debut single 'Home Is The Hardest Place To Find' on 12th August. We caught up with Alex Moran to find out more about how things have been going...

Quiet as a Mouse are an Edinburgh based band formed in 2012. The band's live reputation has quickly grown in the past year supporting Palma Violets, The Crookes, Hey Sholay & Dingus Khan (Fierce Panda Records) as well as their first batch of London shows being with Club Fandango at Bull & Gate & Buffalo Bar and a headline show at Birthdays. These outstanding performances have earned them 'Gig of the Day' from Ruth Kilpatrick at Amazing Radio airplay support from Tom Robinson, Chris Martin and more.

So how have you found your time with the band so far?

I have been really happy with the first year of Quiet as a Mouse. The band and I have done a lot of the promotion ourselves with the help of a couple of PR agents in Edinburgh & London. Working hard and being lucky enough to work with good and like- minded people has helped in regards to promotion.

Apart from being a great song, the video is quite intriguing...

The single was produced by Marcus Mackay (Frightened Rabbit, Snow Patrol, Sparrow & The Workshop) and mastered by Chris Potter (Arctic Monkeys, Anna Calvi, Suede & Primal Scream). The video came about from my friend Ciaran, who is a freelance music video director (check out his work here http://seaoflyons.com/) he came up with the concept and directed the video.

We've noticed that the Edinburgh music scene seems to be really picking up lately, what's your thoughts?

To be honest I don't really think about being part of a scene, I'm not sure we fit in anyway haha... But I have always felt that Scottish music has a fantastic history which is really cool to be part of even if it's only ever in a small way.

Both Edinburgh & Glasgow are important to us, I think we are really lucky that both cities are so close geographically to each other. Some of our favourite venue's in Edinburgh are The Caves & Electric Circus and Broadcast and Nice N Sleazy's in Glasgow. Along with playing in London these three cities are our main focus in regards to live dates at the moment.

Thanks to Alex for taking the time to talk to us.
