LIVE MUSIC BEATS EVERYTHING
Since we've started Evo we've been harping on about soul, and how music has a belonging and a feeling behind it
We've been invited along, and chose to go, to many open mic/gig nights/promo launches, you get the idea.
Sometimes you come away buzzing, other times not so much.
In the many years of doing Evo4 all of our favourite times have been in the company of likeminded people with a sense of community and wellbeing.
Today was one of those standaout days. We went along to Govan's Amethyst to join Mick Hargan doing what he does best.
A normal working day hen from Mick's point of view is something that only a few likeminded artists understand.
So tonight, after spending three or so hours being warmed up with yet another amazing afternoon of hidden talent (covering ages from 8-99!) we headed along to what was officially billed as the Jayz funeral gig.
Jayz was a bar on the South Side of Glasgow that was home to regular music nights hosted by Mick Hargan. Unfortunately a few weeks ago Jayz closed it's doors for the last time.
To honour the venue, Mick hosted a night in the Classic Grand to showcase a majority of the performers that had graced the stage at Jayz.
The range of talent on show was outstanding and we were blown away by not only all the performances but the sense of community on show.
Jayz may be gone but the music still lives on.
We'd more than recommend you get yourselves along to any of Mick's future events. He's one of the decent promotors out there, and is to be praised for his professionalism and dedication to getting live music out there.
