LOCHRIDGE - THE RENEWABLES
Ayshire formed three piece Lochridge release their debut EP, The Renewables, on Bandcamp: http://lochridge.bandcamp.com/
A fine collection of Scottish sounding tracks (although the guitarist is currently on a 5 month working trip in Mexico), the mere £2.50 asking price is little for a great wee collection of songs.
Lochridge is a three-piece band that was formed in the summer of 2012. Based in Ayrshire and borne from a love of folk-based music, that aim to capture the traditional elements of Celtic music, blend it with a touch of rock and throw in an ever-so-subtle hint of ambience/electronic for good measure.
That of course is the grand plan!
For now, they're just starting off simple with their first EP offering - The Renewables. Currently they consist of a guitarist/vocalist, bass player and drummer/percussionist, though recruiting a keyboard player to help enhance their sound is on the horizon. They have played a number of semi-acoustic gigs at venues across Glasgow (such as the Rio Cafe, Govan Arms and Kinning Park Complex, all courtesy of FeeVents Presents) playing stripped-back sets that offer their songs up from a different perspective and giving folky twists to tracks from artists such as Bastille and Coheed & Cambria.
Work is already underway to increase their bank of original material for longer sets, as well as taking advantage of the excellent music scene in Scotland and getting more gigs under their belts, as and when time and geographical location allows.
